Operating Regulations for Penetrating Flaw Detection

1) Cleaning
Before penetrant inspection, surface cleaning and pre-cleaning must be carried out to remove all contaminants on the surface of the inspected parts. The scope of preparation should be expanded by 25 mm around the flaw detection site.
There are mechanical methods, chemical methods and solvent removal methods to remove dirt.
2) Penetration
The penetrating application method should be based on the size, shape, quantity and inspection part of the part, to choose spraying, brushing, pouring and dipping methods.
The length of time and temperature range in the infiltration process have a great influence on the sensitivity of detecting cracks. When the infiltration temperature is within the range of 15-50℃, the infiltration time is generally divided into 5-10 minutes; when the infiltration temperature is reduced to 3-15℃ The penetration time should be appropriately increased according to the temperature.
3) Remove
Solvent-removing penetrants are removed with cleaning agents. Except for the occasions that are particularly difficult to remove, they are generally wiped with cloth and paper dipped in cleaning agents; do not wipe back and forth, and do not immerse the test piece in the cleaning agent or use excessive cleaning When cleaning with water spray, the pressure of the water pipe should be 0.21MPa, the water pressure should not exceed 0.34MPa, and the water temperature should not exceed 43℃.
4) Dry
The drying method can be dried with a clean cloth, compressed air, hot air, hot air circulation drying device, etc. The drying temperature on the surface of the test object should be controlled within the range of not more than 52°C.
5) Development
The process of developing is to use a developer to absorb the penetrating liquid from the defect to the surface of the part to produce a clearly visible defect image. The developing time should not be too long and the developer should not be too thick, otherwise the defect display will become blurred. The developing time is 10-30 minutes, and the thickness of the developer is 0.05-0.07 mm.
6) Inspection
Observation of the displayed traces should be carried out within 7-30 minutes after the application of the developer. If the size of the displayed traces does not change, the above-mentioned time can be exceeded.
In order to ensure the inspection of minor defects, the illuminance on the inspected parts should reach at least 350 lux.
After the flaw detection, in order to prevent the residual imaging agent from corroding the surface of the test object or affecting its use, the imaging agent should be removed if necessary. The cleaning method can be brushed, air-jet, water sprayed, wiped with cloth or paper
